Amla Dal/ Usirikaya Pappu

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 4-5 Amla Deseeded and Cut
  • ½ cup Soaked Toor Dal
  • ½ tsp Turmeic Powder
  • 5-6 Green Chillies
  • as needed Salt
  • as per consistency Water
For Tempering
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Corriander Seeds
  • ½ tsp Fenugreek Seeds
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • Curry Leaves

Equipment

  • 1 Pressure cooker

Method
 

  1. Soak the toor dal in water for 30 minutes. In a pressure cooker , add oil and amla and saute them for a minute.
  2. Add in the soaked dal along with the water. Add turmeric and green chillies.
  3. Close the lid and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Once the pressure is released, open and mash the dal.
  4. Add salt and water according to your consistency
  5. Now, heat a pan and add the galric and tempering seeds. Let them splutter and add curry leaves.
  6. Once the curry leaves turn aromatic, pour in the mashed dal and enjoy.
